I activated iTunes Match last night and it needs to upload about 2000 songs. However, in the last 12 hours it has only uploaded about 100.

My ISP is Teksavvy cable, 24 Mbps down / 1 Mbps up. I've never had any issues before with them but then I've never done any serious uploading. Is Teksavvy throttling iTunes Match, or is the problem with Apple's servers being overloaded? At this rate it's going to take me 1.5 weeks of constant uploading to sync my library completely! It reminds me of dialup internet. :(

I wouldn't be surprised if it was an apple problem.

Millions of people worldwide are trying to upload tens/hundreds, possibly thousands of songs each.

Apple halted the subscription in the UK and Canada according to reports, possibly because if they didn't the service would become so slow it would be overwhelmed.

This happened in the USA too shortly after launch.

I highly doubt your ISP was able to implement such traffic shaping so soon. They would have had no idea iTunes match was imminent. Nobody did.

I'm on 40mb download and I've uploaded about 500 songs in 24hrs, so I think apple are struggling

It could be your ISP and you could call them and report the issue. With that said, my money is on Apple's infrastructure. When it went live in the US the speeds were wildly different the first few days for me and I had the same question.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

It could be your ISP, though not because of iTunes match. Some ISP's terms say that they can throtle of they thing you're breaching fair use and suspect you're acting as a streaming server.

On Shaw, it's much much faster than that, so it's probably safe to say its not a Match/Canada issue. Haven't looked too closely, seemS to be doing about 800 an hour or so.

Thanks all. I'm happy to report that uploading is finally complete. Still no idea why it was so slow but it did seem to speed up a bit, especially into the weekend, so I think it may have been the Match servers.

I'm also on Teksavvy and the uploading phase has been painfully slow. Not sure why either. My torrent upload speed hasn't changed over the same time period... though I guess they could throttle iTunes Match specifically. I'm also assuming it is on Apple's end.
