Hope someone might be able to help with an issue I am having.

I signed up for iTunes match and turned it On on my iPhone. A day later I decided the service wasn't exactly what I expected, so I turned it off. The music app on my iPhone has been very sluggish since I activated the service and I have not noticed a difference since I turned it off. Switching between artists, playlists, and songs was instantaneous before, but I now notice a 3-5 second lag when switching between each item. In addition, the cloud icon still appears next to certain Artists and Albums, even though the song was never played through iTunes match and was never downloaded via iTunes match. I removed the songs after deactivating iTunes match and added them back, but the cloud icon still appears.

Is there a way to reset my iPhone back to pre-iTunes match days or does anyone have any suggestions to resolve the problem?

Thanks for your help.

There was a thread earlier on this...I had the same problem...iTunes Match works amazing on my MBA, but it does not work fast enough on my iPhone...I just went back to the old days and sync my music with iTunes.

I'm on the same program - syncing my music with iTunes. Problem is, the cloud icon and performance issues are still prevalent.

Anyone have any suggestions?

On my iPhone 4S the music app was SUPER sluggish right after enabling iTunes Match. I ignored it at first and let my 17k songs finish uploading, then I messed with cleaning up artwork and such and by the time I went back to the music app it was still sluggish but over the course of 72 hours or so it cleared up and now there is a very SLIGHT delay when trying to switch between artists or playlists...you can tell its not like it was before iTunes Match, but its not horrible. So maybe you just need to wait and let the cloud finish doing what its doing.

Not only is it sluggish, but I find it crashes fairly often, and shuffling inside a playlist with undownloaded iTunes match songs will actually just cause the player to stop--and it won't even start downloading the song! It just stops!

There're a lot of bugs to work through.

I am having this same issue and it's VERY frustrating.

Not only is the the service itself very slow for me to download music over a strong 3G signal (and even over WiFi) but the music app is SO slow and crashes on me all the time. I have contacted Apple support and after being escalated to a high level support group I got the following response:

"I've giving my engineering team a full rundown on the issues you are experiencing with the Music app once enabling iTunes Match.

They have let me know that this issue will need to be handled by our iPhone support team. It appears to be an issue with how the app is interacting with iTunes Match. There is not any further troubleshooting we can advise from the iTunes Match portion of things concerning this.

This issue will need to be addressed through our iPhone Technical Support team whom you were working with previously. From your case, I gather the last iPhone senior advisor you spoke with was Charles. You'll want to go ahead and reach out to him to continue further troubleshooting on the iPhone.

I would like to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and frustration caused by being sent back from one department to another. I know that is not the most desirable outcome. However, for this issue our iPhone technical support team is best equipped in resolving this.

Thank you for your understanding and patience throughout this process. I hope you have a great weekend."

I'm sure the iPhone support team will be even less helpful.

Here is my experience

iTouch 32GB 4th Gen and iPad 1, experience a 3-5 sometimes longer response when launching the music app. It was annoying but I have dealt with it.

Now on Tuesday I got an iPhone 4S and notice there is really no delay on open and playing. My assumption is Dual Core vs Non Dual Core. I can see a slight delay with sluggish 3G but not on my Home WIFI.

Music App has stopped working

I've had iTunes Match for about a month and my iPhone 4 music app has been sluggish throughout. Today when I tried to play any music on the phone it refused, I can't play anything. I pick an album, press play and nothing happens - it just stays stuck on zero minutes of the song. So I've had to turn iTunes Match off. It's very disappointing.
I should add that I have a friend who has an iPhone 4S and he has no sluggishness problems, perhaps the iPhone 4 can't handle Match?

I'm turning iTunes Match off also. Same issue here, I play a song, but it gets stuck at 0:00. Not paused either. Or sometimes I'll play a song, and a different song will play - sometimes with the correct title of the song playing, sometimes a different title. Back to the old days of syncing.

Ditto. Had the problem before and just decided to turn off iTunes Match on my iPod, but when that didn't fix it, had to do a full restore. Turned it back on for some reason after updating the 5.1, and the problem is back, although not as bad yet. Seems to build and just take longer to launch or perform tasks each time I use it.
