I figured out that you can prevent songs from being uploaded to the icloud by changing their "Kind" to something other than "Music". Simply unchecking the song will not prevent an upload. Unfortunately you will never know if your song would have been matched or not.

Can somebody confirm this behaviour?

I miss a function to choose unmatched songs that should be uploaded or not.
Hopefully Apple will add such a feature!

I agree, this is needed. I signed up for iTunes Match over the weekend and all has been well so far. However, now I'm back at work and I listen to a lot of live concerts... especially Pearl Jam live concerts. There's been hundreds of releases of PJ concerts in the last 10 years and if I listen to a concert a day at work, in 5 days that's 5 concerts added to the cloud. I don't want these songs going up into the cloud when I drag them into my iTunes Library for a listen.

Is there any way around this?

Thanks

I would like to know how to do this as well. I mean I have a lot of music which I know won't be able to be matched but I could live without it being uploaded to the cloud. Seems strange this isn't an option? And how do I tell which songs have been matched and which has been uploaded?.. just curious.

But i guess Apple are trying to make a mirror copy of your itunes library to the cloud?
