First, I know it's still beta but I'm just curious.

I'm using iTunes Match. I enabled it in iTunes and it went through it's process. I then enabled it on my iPad and now see my library.

My question is...isn't iTunes supposed to upload songs that it doesn't match? For instance, I see just about all of my Beatles songs but there are about 10 that are grayed out.

Unless I'm mis-understanding, wouldn't iTunes upload those songs to the cloud if it didn't match them?

Just trying to figure out all the ins and outs of iTunes Match cause I know all of my friends are going to ask me when it's live haha. And, I wanna know too!

Part of the iTunes Match process is uploading the songs that it can't match. It takes awhile though but the process won't say it's finished in iTunes until all your songs are uploaded.

That's what I thought. Maybe I just need to give it more time and see what happens.

It's funny cause, for example, it matched The Beatle's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album...the whole album except for the song, Sgt. Pepper's.

Kinda quirky...

when you say it takes awhile, can you give any estimate?

just a ballpark would be helpful, 100-500-1000 songs range.

thanks.

This is completely dependent on your internet speed. I uploaded 600ish songs and it took maybe a few hours, and most of those were Apple Lossless, so the data amount was several gigs.

I turned on iTunes Match yesterday morning and it took about half a day for 8k songs. But, when I look at my music on my iPad (also with Match turned on), I'm still seeing grayed out music.

Go figure. I turned it on to check it out on my iPad since I never listen to music on it. It was a good test to see just how well Match works though.
