iTunes Match... what happens when I pass 25k?

My library was just under 25k when I joined match, like 24,500 tracks... what happens when I pass 25,000?? will the service just stop working all together?

I have a few dozen more albums I need to add and eventually I'll pass the mark.
 
Find out and let us know. You'll probably be the first person on here to try that. I honestly don't know, although I'd be curious (although at the rate I'm going, I'll be 90 before I have that many songs).

i'll probably finish importing the rest of my music tonight and then we'll see what happens. this 25k cap thing makes iTunes Match useless for me even though I really wanted to use the service.
 
I'll find out in 4k more tracks. I imagine they just let you sync the first 25k. I hope.
 
I've always read it as storing 25,000 uploaded tracks that aren't available on the store for whatever reason (higher bitrate, bootlet, unreleased, unlicensed).

No, I think it's 25,000 songs that were not purchased with your Apple ID. So, regardless of whether or not they were matched or uploaded. The alert dialog that I saw in another thread said:

"To participate in iTunes Match, your library must have 25,000 songs or fewer."

I am in the same boat as you. It won't take that long for me to hit that mark either. I actually deleted half my library (it needed pruning anyway) to try out Match.

I am curious as to what happens when you add more tracks and get past your limit.
 
Total songs - Purchased songs >= 25,000 songs

If it is not below 25,000 you will never progress. Eventually seeing a 4001 error.
 
So has anyone tested starting a library under 25k and then going over by adding files? What happens?
 
I'd like to see Apple take responsibility and create a proper guide on how to use all facets of iCloud. I use several other cloud services, but find after reading the marginal amount of info available, that iCloud can be confusing.

It's not a big deal for me since I've already got a cloud strategy in place that has nothing to do with iCloud, nor do I plan on switching. But imagine the beginners that aren't experienced and are faced with iCloud.

Apple needs to address this confusing shortcoming.
 
I tested it and it gives you a prompt saying you've exceeding the 25k limit. It informs you that future songs won't be added anymore. You can ask that the prompt not be displayed again, but everything prior to breaking to limit continues to work.
