I understand the new AppleTV I ordered streams movies only from iTunes. Yet I still see movies to buy on the site. If I purchase a movie does it download to my Mac hard drive and I get to keep it forever, so to speak? And can I play it over and over on my AppleTV?

Yes - if you buy a movie in iTunes you can play it over and over and over.... its stored on your hard drive if you buy it (rentals are streamed to the new AppleTV).
