iTunes, music on another machine

How can i get itunes to use music stored in a directory on a Windows machine? As i have about 40gb of music, and not a very big hdd on this Macbook!

This will only work if your computers are on the same subnet. and turned on though.

I assume that means i'd have to put itunes on that PC? I'd really rather not do that

You could share the folder with the music via Windows and then browse it with iTunes. You'd have to turn off copying to iTunes music folder when adding to Library though.
