Updated to the public released Catalina ( was on the 10.15.1 ) on my MBP 2017. Not having any problems except the Album art work is not displaying for all of my albums with either versions of Catalina. I have a 2019 iPad Air 3 running latest OS and the artwork shows up there. In the Music app I have Updated the iCloud library and the album artwork, authorized the MBP (third time), No help. The artwork does show up when I "get information" on the songs in the albums but not when I do it on the album it self. This happens with CD's and downloaded music, current and New.

I have the artwork of manually added songs (not on AP) constantly disappearing and reappearing in the Catalina Music app so it must be a bug or something. Albums covers purchased from the iTunes store or added via Apple music are ok.

Yes the same problem I"m having. downloaded a new album and the artwork was flickering for the Album but the songs were OK. Went through and deleted it, re-downloaded the Album with the same results.

My artwork is also missing for a big portion of my library, but has been slowly reappearing. The bottom left corner of the app says "loading artwork..." and I've let it just do it's thing overnight. My problem is that the apps RAM usage is hovering around 36GB and climbing. i have 8GB RAM on my 2014 iMac, so the swap used is very high. I'm hoping it just needs to comb through my 135GB library of mostly self added music and repopulate everything. I saw my Frank Zappa album covers were there this morning where they weren't last night. Does anyone else have crazy high Music RAM usage?

Tried that and my 15GB music library updated in about 15 min. Didn't find any new or missing Album artwork or fix the ones that were "Flickering". I don't think the this is the problem as the artwork is showing up on the iPad Air 3.

I updated a system to Catalina yesterday, artwork was mostly missing. Checking today it all seems to have been fixed overnight.

Just to update, Everything all seems to be there now and the RAM usage is calm. Music is using a steady 3Gb RAM though which I think is high, but it's not on a climb anymore. I've never seen something like that happen during a file update before.

I will say one positive thing about Music. I have about 18GB of Grateful Dead and iTunes had always split that into two groups of albums even though the artist titles were identical. Music now has everything under one artist folder, so that's great. It was super annoying to have to guess under which GD artist tab an album was sitting.

Does the location folder for the new Apple music and TV apps changed for new adding music or video? Because I just checked and my iTunes folder is still there with all my stuff on my user folder.

I had the same experience and after waiting a few hours for the artwork to be fully loaded, everything is there.

However, after restarting my iMac, and opening Music again, it seems to be going through the same thing and has to re-load all of the artwork just like the first time I opened Music after upgrading to Catalina.
