iPod iTunes needs to synchronize iPhone before managing music manually?

I have a problem with iTunes, it won't let me change to manual without synching my iPhone. I have it synced with another computer many miles away, and thought I would add some music from another computer. I then clicked the "handle manually" box on my iPhones menu in iTunes, and clicked apply. The thing is, that when I do this, an evil little box appears, asking me if I really want to synchronize this iPhone to this computer. Of course I don't want that, very much stuff would disappear, so I click no. When I do, the "handle manually" box unchecks, and I'm back where I started.
So, anyone have a solution for this? I have tried intensive googling, but I haven't been able to find people with the same problem. Would be really nice if someone knew how to fix this, help is really appreciated.

Well, it seems like no one knows how to solve this

Is there any other way to transfer ringtunes over to the iPhone on a PC, without using iTunes?

The answer to the first question is you can't. iPhones don't work the way older iPods do in that regard.
