My brother bought a new PC laptop, and his iTunes is on an external hard drive. In my experience, I would just point to the root folder (on a new Mac) and it would open the library correctly. But now iTunes will only open if we point to the iTunes Library.itl which unfortunately is an old file and we cannot find the newest library. Note that this is working correctly on his old PC.
Shouldn't we be able to point to the root folder? For some reason it will not open this way when using "Choose Library." Or any ideas on how to find the correct Library file? Note that his iTunes app hadn't been updated in 5 years, I don't know if that is effecting the transition. He does have "Keep iTunes media organized" checked.
thanks for any help!
