iTunes no longer knows how to do what it is meant to do

Just discovered this huge iTunes bug. Just reported it to Apple, but I wanted to share with you how sad it makes me.

Same after reboot. It does it only in Artists.

odd one, possible that itunes needs to be reset, or a preference deleted, but...not sure. again, not happening here. anyone have any ideas?
