Guys,

I wondered if you could help me. I've wanted to restore my phone back to normal from the JB I have as all my apps crash all the time and it's detracting from the benefits I have with a JB device. With this, I have a couple of questions.

1. When I plug my phone into my iMac my iTunes no longer recognises my iPhone so I cannot do a backup. Any ideas why this might be and how I could possibly get this back?

2. If I want to restore back to normal is it possible to backup my phone now (all new apps and data since JB) and restore from backup to have my phone as it is today, just without the JB?

Thank you for your time.
Adam.

Nope, phone doesn't show up at all on the left menu. My iPad does and is fine.

Turn it off and plug it that way to see if it turns on and gets recognize, if it fails i think you can still do backup with icloud and restore in dfu mode.

Tried turning it off but that didn't work. I will try an iCloud backup.

This would be the only time I'd recommend reset all settings on your iPhone.
This will cause your iPhone to fail. Place it then in DFU mode and iTunes will recognize it as such.
Restore.

do you have the tweak "photo albums" installed i remember this was a big problem in the past but not sure if it was fixed

Never was a problem for me on my iphone 4 and 4s but know nothing how it works on the iphone 5.

I will recommend he do a icloud backup so he keeps hes layout etc and just put the phone in dfu and restore.

I've managed to finally do an iCloud backup, some 4 hours later. What do I need to do now? Is it easy from here on out?

Entering DFU Mode (Official Instructions)
Plug your device into your computer.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present.

I guess you will now what to do after itunes prompt.

Does the computer detect the phone? Meaning in "my computer"

No.

Well, not until today when my computer now recognises it. So what would happen if I selected to update my iPhone in iTunes from 6.1 to 6.1.3 would it delete the JB for me and go back to normal but keep all my paid for apps?

Before doing anything(assuming the phone is connected and recognized by iTunes),go to settings->iCloud->Storage and Backup->perform a backup.
When its finished just press restore on iTunes,it will download iOS 6.1.3 and install it on your phone(you'll lose everything including your JB),when its finished while you're setting up your phone it will provide you with 3 options: starting fresh(basically empty),restoring from iTunes and restoring from iCloud.
You choose restoring from iCloud,it will take you to a screen where you'll insert your apple ID and password, afterwards it will show you the recent backups made on your account, simply select the latest one(assuming you're only using one device on your account, simply check the time stamp) and it will start downloading the settings and stuff like that. When its finished it will reboot and take you to your home screen, everything will be there except your apps which will start downloading at that moment, when thats finished your phone has been completely restored and besides not being JB'ken you'll have everything else in it.

Don't click update if you're on a jailbroken device. Click restore. Clicking updating will mess up the device

Make an iTunes backup and then restore to 6.1.3 and then restore from the backup
