What happens to my iTunes files if I upgrade from Mojave to Catalina?

Nothing happened to mine. I updated today. I haven't opened the Apple Music app though. Instead I installed iTunes using Retroactive and my library loaded just as if I were still on Mojave.

Thanks for the answer.
I've loaded Retroactive. When I upgrade to Catalina, I then use it to add iTunes? Where does Retroactive find iTunes after I've upgraded to Catalina?
I see it also provides for synching with an iPod which is my end objective.
When I buy a new iPod Touch, it will probably come with IOS14 installed and I'm not sure it will sync with my iMac running Mojave, which is the only reason I would even consider Catalina since I am quite content with Mojave.
If I can sync the new one from my existing IOS 13 backup on the iMac from my earlier iPod running IOS 13, that would avoid all the hassle, but I suspect IOS 14 on the new Touch may not like to sync with Mojave.
I'm totally exasperated with Apple after using their universe since 1982, but the Touch is a really great replacement for my old Classics and syncs with my Alexa Echo Studio and hearing aids!
I have thirty years and thousands of $ tied up in my iTunes library which I refuse to give up or endanger because the money twits at Apple insist that the world bow to Apple Music.
