Hi guys.

Long time Apple user, forum member and AM subscriber.
Although I always run the latest iPhone - I have a workhorse PC as my main computer.

And have to say, the state of iTunes on Windows is nothing short of horrid...
I feel like its taboo to discuss the topic. I have even reached out the MacRumors to do an article on it months ago, to no response.

iTunes on Windows hasn't seen a substantial update in what seems like 5 years.
The thing doesn't even have Hardware acceleration for gods sake.

I can run games at 4k Ultra settings hitting 200 frames, but can't scroll a playlist on iTunes without it looking like a slideshow???

Not to mention iTunes on Windows hasn't even been updated to support the newest Apple Music features like Lossless and Spatial Audio.
This is Apple's primary AM marketing features for the past year!!

I can't be the only Windows Apple Music customer wondering "what the hell is Apple doing?"

You are not the only one. Here's a thread about Apple Lossless on Windows: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-music-lossless-to-windows.2296550/.

I ended my Spotify subscription because I subscribed to Apple One where I get Apple Music plus other stuff like Apple TV+ and iCloud storage. But I really miss the Spotify app. Can't even compare iTunes to Spotify, they are clearly from different eras... iTunes is horribly slow and outdated. I'm sure Apple knows that but they probably don't view Windows as a worthy platform, they want people to use their platforms like iOS and macOS. But they *might* be working on a modern Apple Music app for Windows (see link in the thread above). I'd like to enjoy Apple Lossless on Windows. I wonder if I could run the Android Apple Music app on the Windows Subsystem for Android? :)

I feel like there would be thousands of complaints from paying customers if only they knew what their computers are capable of software wise, maybe they should try Spotify to get a look in. iTunes is really lacking. It's such a shame

Something strange is going on, I agree. Like the OP, I too utilize my PC more than ios devices. I used to purchase music on mu iPhone and it would automatically sync or transfer these songs to iTunes (no matter if it's iTunes for Windows or not). Now, most recently, I purchased music but it did not sync nor would it sync with Windows. Trying to make this brief, but I have always utilized a secondary AppleID using a yahoo.com email just to make purchases. Now, they tell me this is a separate appleid that cannot transfer musice to my primary appleid.

Exactly.. it feels like Apple has completely lost the plot.

I would love to see the spread between the Apple Music customer base who has a Mac and the Apple Music customer base which has a PC (has an iPhone maybe). Even if its 80/20.. thats like 15 MILLION of Apple Music customers.

Hope all those millions of customers enjoy the laggy, buggy piece of sh*t iTunes on Windows is.. who cares about those customers hey?
