iTunes organization with iPad/iPhone TERRIBLE

It's impossible to see which apps are for the iPhone and which one are for the iPad. They should be a different color or something! I don't want any iPhone apps on the iPad.

The organization really needs to be improved. When you select the apps tab and are able to see the screen of iPad or iPhone there is a button that says "sort by" they need a sort by iPhone, iPad, or both option. That alone would eliminate most the the frustration and confusion between the two.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I would also agree, I'm not too impressed with how things have been done. I'm hoping soon there is an update and Apps are better organized somehow.

This is the price we pay for being early adopters I guess.

A few small fixes in the OS, a couple useful app updates, and some time for devs to create some amazing shizite, and the iPad will be amazing...er

Terrible is an understatement. It's almost like Apple never even considered the difference between the two types of apps in the sync menu -- not something I expect in an Apple GUI. Oddly apps are separated in the regular Apps tab. Definitely a must fix for the next version of iTunes.

Good point, I noticed that the first day. It tries to put my iPhone Apps on the iPad and I don't like that. The Apps I have on my iPad are much different and none overlap. I use my iPhone differently and don't want my iPhone Apps on my iPad.

It sort of pissed me off to be honest when I saw that's how it works. For now I have to keep unselecting iPhone Apps when I connect my iPad.

I hope that is also fixed with future updates.

It only separates the apps when you are in the GRID view. Horrible oversight by apple that really needs to be fixed before someone like my mom (new iPhone owner) buys the iPad too. I can only imagine trying to explain this process to her.

Quick, someone email Jobs and let him know. I'm sure he's open to consumer advice about iTunes.

The apps only sync with that device unless I check it. Just want to make sure since I have a couple of friends that are now looking at getting an iPad and want to make sure I inform them correctly of the work flow.

Well? I guess I'm not sure now that you mention that. I think Apps purchased on the iPad are different than the ones purchased on the Desktop and installed via iTunes on the desktop.

I think your right, there is a difference. I will have to look a little deeper into that when I get home and can spend more time looking at it. I think your right tho, they are managed in different ways.

I'm really unsure why it selects some apps and not others. You may be right, I'll have to test it out.

My app downloading habits are all over the place. My wife and I share an account so she'll download an app from her iPhone an tell me about it, then I'll download it on my MBP and sync to it for my iPad or iPhone. Or any combination between an iMac, two MBPs, two iPhones, and now an iPad. Gets hard to know what we've downloaded!

I fully agree. I have even noticed that some of the apps I have downloaded for my iPad, have then been put on my iPhone as well after I sync my phone with iTunes.

I never wanted the app on my iPhone. And no, I don't have iTunes set to sync all apps to my iPhone, so I don't even know why they are getting synced there. And this has happened more than once. Very odd.

Apple definitely needs to update this.

I use the list view and I sort by "Kind". That let's me see "iPad app", then "iPhone/iPod Touch app", and lastly, "iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad app". Not great, but it does work.

I do what DotComCTO suggested, but that only works when you are looking at them under the apps menu. When you are the sync menu, I thought you only got the graphical app options. However, mine doesn't show my iPad only apps when I connect my iPhone to it. I don't have my iPad yet, but I'm sure it will show ALL apps since they can technically run on the iPad in either native or 2x mode.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the confusion.
