I have some movies (*.mv4) that will just buffer forever and not play on the computer or Apple TV, using a MacPro and Yosemite and of course Itunes..
If I copy them to my wifes IMAC using Mavericks they play just fine on her computer and Apple TV...Anyone know why...?? Diskdrive perhaps...?? (External WD)

An other idea: movies play fine on your wife's iMac, but not on your Mac Pro: Are the movies bought with your wife's account? Then you have to change to hers account to iTunes.

And other files (not the movies) on the same disk you can copy/write/read?

Yessir......I thought perhaps it was encoding error, but again played on the wifes Imac without any issues..All the rest of my music ect plays without issues..There may be an issue with a process I know nothing about..When the file is imported to Itunes it has a number name, after the import it has the movie name..Again not sure how that happens or has anything to do with it but, the troubled file(s) still have their number names , while they show up in Itunes with their regular names, but on the drive maintains their numbered name..Hope Im making sense,,,

Ok, but the movies you can't even copy?

Did you check the access rights of each movie? Are they 'Read & Write' with your user account?

So have you run Disk Repair yet?

The whole thing sure is wierd..I have run disk repair/permissions with no indications of problems..In fact those few files that wont play wont back up to time machine either...Thanks all for the suggestions..The file name is AVF4880.mp4 when added to Itunes it shows its true title, how...??

I'm at a loss. The only thing I can suggest now, is that if the iMac can access the files fine as indicated in your first post, I'd copy the files off of the drive onto the iMac.

I think DRM or Trustworthy Computing, meaning TPM, is your problem. What is the source of your movies?

Its definitely not DRM or TPM but perhaps maybe an encoding issue..If I re-do the encoding it works...(If I can copy it off the drive !!)...Can delete it tho ! Thanks for the help, truly appreciated...
