iTunes pulled in files from my other PC

Hi everyone,

I just got round to setting up itunes. My music is all nicely organised the way I like in my music folder.

I wanted to see what happens when you let itunes organise your music so I start the copy process and before I know it, all kinds of music (not mine) is flying in there (in music/iTunes/iTunes media/music) from my wifes windows 7 PC who's sitting next to me?!

Sharing is OFF on the mini, there should be no reason at all for the mac mini to connect to the PC let alone copy files from it. Share library on local network is unchecked in iTunes preferences.

Does anyone know why this might be? Maybe I've missed a setting somewhere.

Network discovery is ON on the PC as we use a networked printer.

Are both computers logged into the same iTunes account? If so, that's your trouble, since you are copying all the old files to your Mac.

No, the other pc doesn't even have itunes on it. Sharing is also turned off.

I have no idea how songs from my wifes pc ended up on my mac! Doesn't matter now anyway really, selling the thing, apple is too restricting for my liking.

Hi.

I'm taking a trip back down ubuntu lane, and enjoying it much more than I did using the mac. Macs are great and ready to go out the box. However, it's very restrictive for theming, hardware choice and anything customization actually. Also, forced overpriced upgrades via the apple store on future models made me think twice. Too bad if you actually want to add ram, use a physical DVD or even use wired ethernet on the newer macbooks. It sounds negative and the retina displays are gorgeous but personally, its not for me.

I can't fault mac osx and I don't want to. I don't care for the OS wars, they are cringingly pathetic lol.

I love the way osx looks and I can theme out ubuntu very easily to look the same, dock and all. This of course has some people saying 'poor mans mac' which is a shame as that's not the case. If I wanted mac osx, I would buy a macbook.

I would like to thank the people on this forum have been amazing in support, and very friendly too. Nothing like the stereotyped attitude of mac users at all.

No doubt I'll be back here when I get another mac in the future to see what all the fuss is about, lol! I'm fickle and don't think I'll ever 'commit' to one OS over another. After all, it's a computer, my actual real life comes first!

Thanks. I haven't sold the mini quite yet and now I'm getting issues with the external HDD randomly ejecting.

Disappointingly, I have found MANY posts that describe this issue, some dating back for quite some time.

For me, first there was the HD4000 snowy screens, now it's the external HDD ejecting. It's not good enough and only serves to make my decision all the more sensible.

Truly the worst of the worst piece of software.

After just reading your post I have come to the conclusion after my nightmare of trying to get some eBooks in the Library that iTunes is the most complicated piece fo garbage I have ever used, or 'tried' to use.....someone who was or is mentally ill put this 'thing' called 'itunes' together....its a wreck. Unfortunately ,my wife bought an iPad so I'm stuck with trying to use this junk. I'm being kind at the moment, trust me.

I will go and get a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 and 'something' else that will work in simply getting music off a computer and onto the device as well as an eBook, I don't think I'm asking for to much......

Very very disappointed in Apple at this point.

Here you go. Android has been a complete frustration for me, in addition to the fact that's its monitored by Google... I hope this helps. Because not only are you saved from Android, but also you'll have everything synced from device to device, if you wish.
