Hey everyone! I've been using itunes for a real long time have a quick growing music collection (nearing 140K) and so the reason I'm writing this post is because I want to know what to do to make my iTunes faster. With that many songs it slow as heck! I have a fairly recent iMac with maxed ram but still it chugs along. I do run other programs while I'm using my iTunes but I don't really do anything too productive like Photoshop or the like. I occasionally run Safari, Firefox, Word, Excel and iChat.

Any suggestions to increase the speed of iTunes? So that I don't sit around and wait for it do go along. Any advice would be helpful! Thx.

Can this also be used to keep manage separate iPhones? Right now I'm managing 2 iPhones with 2 separate libraries on my Mac. To do that, I created another user and when I need to update/back-up her phone, I switch user accounts.

But it would be a heck of a lot easier if I didn't have to do that. Her iTunes library has completely different music/movies than mine does.

if I'm to use smaller libraries then am I able to access songs from one library to another? It kind of doesn't make sense to me to use smaller libraries and separate my songs. Any other advice or other methods to do this? What if I want to sync the songs to my iPod or iPhone but now I can't access some of the songs because they are on an another library? It seems this is a step backwards?
