I have noticed an odd behavior with iTunes. Sometimes when I view a play list, several of the songs will have an exclaimation mark next to their title indicating that the file can not be found. I locate the file and the exclaimation mark is removed. But the quirk is this. The eclaimation mark then appears next to the title either above or below the title that I just located.

I have trashed my playlists and the iTunes database and even re-imported the library. But there are always songs list as not being found.

Any clues to what causes this or how to fix it?

Thanks

next time you have everything fixed go to advanced in the menu bar and hit consolidate. this will copy every song it finds into its own folder in the itunes music folder in your home folder. some people prefer not to do this but personally i like to have all my music organized in the itunes folder instead of in scattered folders all about my hard drive.

yes consolidating can help, it's the best way to go. if you're still having issues, have you repaired permissions? it sounds like it could easily be related to that-- songs with the wrong permissions.

That's have I have it set up. I have the entire libray in one folder within Users > Shared > iTunes Music.

Every time I locate one song, iTunes forgets one. And it's not neccessarily the songs each time. They seem to random.

interesting, i would recommend repairinging permissions. and if that doesnt work, if you dont have a crapload of playlists i would just reinstall itunes.
