I'm spending the longest amount of time trying to sync my iPad with photos from iPhoto. I'll try to add a few photo albums only to have iTunes erase all photos that are currently formatted and stored on my iPad. "Optimizing," these photos over and over again is driving me crazy!

Anyone else having a problem like this?

I was having the same issue, but noticed that it was only optimizing the exact number of videos that I had in my iPhoto lib. (I had selected the "Include videos" option in iTunes so that I can watch my iPhone movies - imported earlier into iPhoto - on my iPad.) Once I deselected "Include videos", it no longer repeated the "Optimizing photos" event.

However, I tried to include videos again, and the second time around, it only optimized them once, and I no longer faced the problem.

So I'm not sure what went right, but if you're including videos, I'd try toggling that + syncing again.
