Hi,

I've switched to a new Mac today and for some strange reason, the ratings column is two times as wide as it should be:

The problem is that you can't resize the ratings column, so I can't make it smaller anymore. I took a look in the plist's but I did not find the right thing anywhere. I was thinking there was something wrong with my library, but creating a new lib didn't solve my problem either. Nor reinstalling iTunes did help!

So I hope some of you guys can help me!

Thanks :)

If you place your mouse cursor between Beoorderling and Afgespeeld, your cursor will change to a vertical line with arrows pointing in either direction. If you click and drag to the left, it will resize that column.

Try removing the column and then adding it again.

The column should resize the same way as a column in Excel... if that does not work then try removing it from view and close iTunes... then go back to view choices and bring it back. I can only say it worked for me.

Yeah, I know how column resizing works, but the Ratings column has a fixed width. But for some strange reason it's two times as wide as it should be (taking to much place!). The problem is if I click in the white space next to it, it also gives the selected track 5 stars...

It might seem a bit a stupid thing I want to get solved, but it justs irritates me! I'm kind of a perfectionist ;)

I found quite some long workaround...

First I have to put my system language in English. Start iTunes. Then I hide the ratings column from all my playlists (about 40 playlists :( ). Restart iTunes. Enable it again (still with English system language). Quit iTunes. Setting the system language back to Dutch. Start iTunes again, and everything seems to be fine in Dutch now! But if I hide/unhide a column again, it gets screwed up again :/

I guess this is because the "beoordeling" word is just a little bit to long to fit with the right margins in the column header, and for some reason iTunes takes two time the width to make it fit :(

Annyways, I've got it working now and I hoope the above method can help other people who might get the same problem sometimes! :)

EDIT:
Digging a little further into this I saw that modifying the Dutch resources file (replacing "Beoordeling" by "Rating") didn't solve the problem either. I saw "Rating" in my iTunes column headers when using Dutch, but it still was taking twice the width it should ... Guess it should be somewhere with the other resource files...

I have the same problem

Are you playing with the terminal command "defaults" or changing .plists?, because I have the same problem since I changed somewhere to "rate 1/2 stars". It changed the iTunes music database and it's harder to chage this setting, maybe changing the view controllers within iTunes.app to make this column unlocked...

Ratings Column Size

I've just read your post, and I've found exactly the same problem than you.
Please let me know if you somehow were able to fix it, because i still haven't!

More info: my version is 8.2.1 under Windows Vista, Spanish Language; uninstalling or reinstalling doesn't fix it. It happens in library and also in every playlist. It happened much before introducing half star rating. It only happens with rating column. Album rating or any other don't have this problem.

Thanks,
