Itunes re-cashing artwork every time?

Just upgraded to the a new 2011 imac and ported over all my stuff via time machine. Have noticed that everytime itunes launches all the artwork is blank and then starts to update...also the HD is really noisy compared to my old first gen alu imac? any tips?
