Hi.

I've been using iTunes for ages, and I thought I was reasonably competent...

In the past I have been able to delete songs from my playlists, and they are only deleted from that playlist. They remain in my library, and they remain in my main 'My Music' view without being affected at all. Deleting songs from playlists hasn't evoked the 'keep file or delete from library?' dialog, because it is only the playlist that I'm deleting it from.

This morning I tried to delete a song or two from a playlist, and each time I was presented with the above dialog, as if I was deleting the song from my main 'My Music', so I cancelled each time, not wanting to lose songs completely. I am currently running iTunes 12.3.1.23 under 10.11.1 on a 2010 MacBook Pro.

Is it no longer possible to delete songs from playlists without deleting them from the iTunes library? Or am I missing something somewhere?

I am in the same boat as you. It appears since they rolled out Apple Music integrated into iTunes, small issues such as the one mentioned have arrived. Hope it's a bug.

You haven't included a dialog box with your post.

However, you can remove remove a song from a playlist as follows:
Select Playlist
File>Edit Playlist
Select the song you wish to remove and hit backspace.
