I've been having an incredibly annoying problem with iTunes recently, any time I connect my phone or iPod, iTunes will resync up to thousands of tracks, even though I haven't made any changes to these tracks. Unchecking the option to sync playback information across devices made no difference and I'm at a loss here. Thoughts?

Playcount info?
It's always resunk a few tracks for no apparent reason. Have yet to see thousands.

Nah, it does this for songs that I know haven't been played in a while and it also does this regardless if I sync it with my Mac or PC desktop.

Maybe database on phone is oddly corrupted?
Try killing and starting over?
I usually get 8 or 10 tracks it insists on resyncing for no apparent reason.
So drastic is not called for in my case.
It may be in yours.
-Of course, this being iTunes, chances are even a rebuild won't help.
It's a crazy excuse for an App.

Are you logged into store? Perhaps Apple is updating the modified date of their master copies.
I've been using iTunes since 2004 or so, yet my earliest file modified date is 2010.
They did something horrible to my 'date added' back in 2015. Date modified is also subject to seemingly arbitrary change.
A simple change in those file properties could be what's giving you headaches.
Unfortunately there's not much to be done about it.

Apple actually tried to tackle Classical music sorting?
I'm glad I stopped updating at 10.4.1, and never gave them a chance to wreck my sort of workable homebrew system for the stuff.
