So I tried to purchase the movie that was on sale today, iTunes gives me a pop up that says I've already purchased this item, would I like to purchase it again? But it won't allow me to download it, it doesn't show the little cloud with the arrow. It just has the purchase price listed. If I already purchased it how can I download it again? Has anyone run into this before? I couldn't find this specific issue doing a search.

Did you sort it out. The only time I had this happen is when I got a movie from iTunes, but used a code I got with a DVD I bought at Best Buy to purchase it. Forgot name of company providing code. I have to keep movie on computer/iphone because it won't redownload. Otherwise, you could try signing in and out of iCloud or calling Apple.

I just purchased it again and emailed Apple. Haven't heard back yet though

They finally got me an answer after a strange back-and-forth that was not like my normal experiences with Apple support. I think I most likely got someone who didn't speak English the greatest. They asked strange questions and were kind of weird about it. But anyway, it turns out I had a code maybe from a Blu-ray or something and the download period had expired. I thought that was when you bought a movie and it came with an iTunes download that it was added to your library and you could always download it, I guess that's not the case.

Sounds like my experience. I am very careful not to delete the movie. And, have a backup on an external drive just in case.

I buy very few movies or codes anymore, so I probably won't change anything. But I typically use my iPad or my AppleTV which don't have storage space, the iPad does but not for a ton of movies, so it would be nice to be able to re-downloaded or re-watch them anytime.
