Is it just me, or in previos versions of iTunes, when you started to search, didn't it narrow down the genres/artists/albums (in browse view) at the same time?
In iTunes 4.8 this does not happen - did it used to, or am I just going mad?!?

PS - If it did, that was a lot more useful - type in the name of an artist and instantly get a list of the albums that that artist was in, or type in an album and get a list of artists maybe, oh and genres.

iTunes 5 better have a lot of thought in it!

Well, now iTunes 5 is out I feel very validated about this thread!
No replies at all - did anyone see it even I wonder?
Well, in iTunes 5, you start typing in the search box and hey presto, the Genres, Artists and Album boxes (when in browse view) all start to reduce, listing only the relevant entries. - All better now!
Playlist folders - thank god - and the fact you can click on a folder and use browse view - even better! Phew.

You're ahead of your time. I did notice the change in 4.9 in regards to searching. I think it's always been like that. Not sure though. Never had a problem searching pre-iTunes 5.0.
