ITunes-songs,play lists,albums are all gone

When I open iTunes all the songs etc. are gone. OS 10.8 sys. I know there is a way to get them back, but I can't wrap my brain around it.

If you close iTunes, then relaunch it while holding the Option key, you should be able to select your library, unless it's been deleted or damaged. If it's gone, restore from a backup.

Also, it's possible your entire library might be hiding in your iTunes folder. Your music's default location is stored in Users>Music>iTunes>iTunes Media>Music. If it's all there, simply drag and drop it into your iTunes library (although you will lose your playlist information).

iTunes problem

Thanks to both of you for your ideas and help
With that info I did a bunch of searching in my backups and found the iTunes XML. File. I drug it to iTunes and that got things going. A few tweaks and I am back !!!!
