ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME?

i searched a few of my favorite punk bands...

NOFX - returned no results
AFI - returned no results
Pennywise - returned no results
Anti-Flag - returned no results
New Found Glory - returned ONLY self-titled album
Flogging Molly - returne no results
Blink-182 (multiple spellings) - returne NO results
Lag Wagon - no results

the kick in the pants...

RANCID - NO RESULTS

this is CRAP! i can't find anything that i really want!

i agree but i haer a feeling the selectio wil lgrow give it a few days to get all the way up.

Give it some time, sheesh! You can't expect them to have every song ever recorded.....besides, its to their benefit to have new stuff on a regular basis, even if the 'new' stuff is old stuff....

Besides, if they're your favorites, I imagine you already have all the songs, so what're you really complaining about?

D :D

steve was boasting about how many songs they have on their service. my problem is just that...they didn't even include the genre "punk". i have somewhere around 4000 "punk" songs on my computer all obtained illegally because i can't find them in most stores. i was actually planning on buying a couple albums today that i can't find anywhere. when steve says that they have more selection than stores, i expect to at least see every genre represented by something!

EDIT:
i did a search for "linkin park"...one of the most popular and most selling recent bands - they for sure went at least double platinum on their first album...the only album that came up was the "family values tour" album that they have 1 song on.

EDIT2:
no returns for "britney spears" or "spears" ha ha

Yeah, only two songs from the queens of the stone age and they have exclusive tracks and a video (which is excellent) so id assume they would at least have their album on there. But i do agree that it will take time and although in my strange opinion i thought they would have more than 200,000 songs, its only the first (not even full day) few hours so, it can only get better really.

I'm pissed because it's US only - that's 50% of us Mac users cut off!

This better be resolved quickly or i'm going to be mighty pissed off with apple.

Relax and go listen to some music...Some of you guys complain way to much....Give it time...If this problem or lack of more diverse selections was still on-going after a month or two, then you have a right to be ticked, other than that chill.

Well they garanteed it'll be coming to windows but no garantee or even mention of international so i doubt it will anytime soon, like the additional services with iPhoto. iPhoto i couldn't care less about but there is no reason this should not be international and the fact it isn't is going to be very annoying to a lot of people, myself included.

First off, you shouldn't be pissed that it's US only right now. We here in the US are working out all of the bugs, so by the time it's implemented internationally, all the bugs will be worked out. We have to deal with bugs, and you guys won't!

Secondly, it'll happen soon enough. Sheesh! No matter how good the news is, someone always has to complain....

No Metallica

I did a search for Metallica and iTunes didn't find anything. Either there aren't any Metallica songs available yet, or Metallica asked specifically not to be made available because of all the lawsuits with Napster.

I wish I could play some previews, I can't seem to be able too :( Damn it sucks being an international user too

Firstly it's not a bloody beta, it's a final prdocut and it appears to work pretty damn well. Secondly there is no hint of it going international any time soon and apple has a pisspoor history - Sherlock, which they keep touting as a key part of OSX is still basically US only, what suggests this service won't be either? I'm hearily sick of the US centricity of Apple considering around half their customer base is NOT in the US. Spymac has started a pentition to get better international support from Apple, I urge anyone who doesn't live in the US to sign.

When Amazon.com started they didn't have nearly the inventory they have today. Give it time.

As for the international crowd, I don't want to come off as a stuck up american, I'm really not (have a canadian girlfriend). If you say the US market is half of apple's sales and the international is the other half, that means that Apples core market is in the US, after all, it is a US company.

Japanese companies introduce all the new toys in Japan first, I can't even get Molson's Canadian in Miami. But should I expect that? If this service was released world wide and it flopped it would be a bigger flop (and potentially an Apple Killer) than if it was just released in the US.

as for the punk bands

some are on side-labels... but if you try alternate entries you may have some results... blink returned all of the blink 182 albums.. it's not aperfect science... and whether you like it or not apple is in bed with the record industry right now and i'm sure they are not going to invest a billion dollars in international e-commerce until they know this thing will fly... jesus christ.. give it some time it's the first day.. and don't start tripping until you have tried every option, like typing "blink". christ the f#*@ing cry babies in here... this is a massive e-commerce undertaking, and frankly i'm greatly pleased that it is working as well as it is already..
tech

I sincerely doubt Apple's US customers only represent half of the total customer base. I'm guessing anywhere between 60% and 70% is closer to the number. I tried a quick Google search and couldn't find anything. It would be interesting to see the numbers.

Make sure you ALL send feedback to Apple telling them what songs/artists you want. There is a link right in the music store for that. They're addings songs daily so give it some time. I've purchased two albums already! It's okay to complain about the selection but ONLY if you are actually doing something about it...ie...letting them know. I've sent several artist requests already.

that's because punk sucks :). And many of those bands you listed
are more pop than punk. Well, we are all entitled to our own
opinions, but yes, you are correct - iTunes store needs a MUCH
wider selection.
