I've culled the tech specs and other information, but cannot find...

has anybody run across a confirmation that (beyond the syncing to iTunes library), that the iPad will play streaming via iTunes shared mechanism or other? especially important for humongous libraries too large to sync...

thanks
ken

I would think something like the current Simplify, which is an app, would work. Also with photos as there is a Photo Simplify App.

If it's not included at launch my guess would that it will come through an update. It would not make sense to have the iPad without this feature.

Unfortunately, it appears Simplify have change their direction and will no longer offer this product. It's already been removed from the iTunes store. Perhaps they know something about Apple's future plans that the rest of us aren't privy to?

AFAIK, AirVideo doesn't work with DRM protected content (such as TV shows and movies downloaded from the iTunes store), so it is only a partial solution. Apple have never introduced streaming for the iPod touch and iPhone so I wouldn't hold your breath for it coming to the iPad, although with it having 802.11n WiFi it would easily cope with anything iTunes could throw at it!
What I'd really like is a FrontRow or AppleTV style interface option (with streaming) together with a horizontal stand - it would make an amazing media player to sit next to my machine whilst I was working :)

yeah - i had similar thoughts; the fact they haven't done it for iPhone/Touch is what prompted my inquisition actually. My best hope though is that since iPad is clearly a media centric device, they may provide the same sync mechanism that is now on AppleTV - namely your library index is synced in full, but content is largely streamed after copied files reach a maximum...

hope for the best...

regarding AirVideo - non DRM will be a deal breaker for many; another option is to copy-sync the TV shows and DRM stuff and use AirVideo for the bulk of the library - but that involves 2 interfaces etc. - not the cleanest..
