My (5g video) iPod has been horribly out of date ever since they quit offering the iPod updates as standalone packages, because it was formatted on a Windows computer, and I exclusively use my mac for internet access. I always got messages that iTunes couldn't update the iPod because it was Windows format.
So, last night I opened iTunes on my macbook and got a perky message asking me if I wanted to update my iPod to the latest version. I thought, yeah, right. So I clicked through and it actually did it. My iPod is still Windows format. It took Apple four years to figure that one out, congratulations.
At the time I wanted it in Windows format because it would mount on either a mac or a PC, in case I wanted to share some music with friends.
