Now with ITunes Match, iCloud, etc, is there any point in synching with Itunes? The only reason I see is to sync photos as photostream does not permanently keep photos. Apps, music, books and backups now store in the cloud...
For me, I am 90% close to not needing to sync to iTunes anymore.
iTunes Match just needs to the ability to Match and Re-download Movies and TV Shows and iOS needs to add the ability to subscribe and Auto Download new Podcast (like Newsstand does).
If you don't care about Movies or TV Shows, then their's no point in Syncing with iTunes.
What about getting videos created on the iPhone into your computer?
You can already re-download TV Show and also stream them straight to Apple TV from the cloud. So Movies are the final frontier.
Image capture can do that pretty easily - or iPhoto
Actually you can enable photo stream to save photos...so really, there is no reason to sync except for podcasts.
Yes - but for that you need to cable-up, which i think is what what the OP is trying to avoid.
Photos in photostream only remain for 30 days.
