I've got MediaLink by Nullriver though admittedly haven't used it to it's fullest. Music and Photo's work great--haven't really tried movies yet as I've been encoding for an Apple TV (another room) and iPhone and the formats aren't compatible.

I use medialink and stream movies from my macbook to the ps3 and it has worked out great. Don't count on getting anything in high definition though. If you are trying to get anything streamed in hd, look at an :apple:tv solution.

I stream 1080p from my Mac Mini to my PS3 with Nullriver Medialink (over a wireless network) and it works without a problem

I did try encoding a few chapters of a DVD rip for PS3 using the preset for it in Handbrake and the quality wasn't comparable to what I've done for the :apple:TV though the PS3 is hooked up to a 1080p plasma while I use the :apple:TV on a smaller 720p LCD. Streaming (from a year old Macbook using 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo) to the PS3 over a wireless N network was also very choppy--as others like yourself have reported success, I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong.

Before my Mac Mini I also had a 2.2 Blackbook and streamed no problem at all, using an Airport Express. The only time I would have any kind of problem with the streaming was if I was also downloading a massive file and using lots of inbound bandwidth at the same time. Both my old MB, and my new MM, have 4 gigs of RAM - not sure if that makes any difference at all though because as far as I know the PS3 does all the processing once it receives the file from the Medialink server
