Never bought TV Shows from iTunes only movies.

Are they "protected" or DRM free like music?

Will I be able to play them on my AppleTV?

What format do purchased iTunes TV shows come in? mp4?
 
iTunes Movie and TV content is protectede by Apple's FairPlay DRM. You will be able to play it on any Apple TV that is linked to your iTunes account via HomeSharing. iTunes video files come in .m4v format.
