Hi All,

Sorry im new here, i have been given a US itunes voucher to test a product on the app store on my iphone.

However teh problem i have is that i am in the Uk using a Uk test account.

If i setup an US account and register teh voucher and teh buy teh app on teh app store, can i then use it on my iphone without haveing to format it etc....

So basically....is it possible to use apps bought on one account and transfer them on to an iphone which is synced with another account?

Let me know,
Many thanks,
Mark

Yes you can. The only thing is to set up a US account you need to provide a US billing address, but I know of people that have simply made one up (and even one person that used Apple's own Infinite Loop address) - Apple doesn't check so unless you do something suspicious they won't know. I set up a US account solely so I could get the Last.FM app which isn't available in Australia. The only thing is if you ever want to update to the latest version of the app you'll have to sign out of your UK account, sign in with the US one, update, then sign out and back in with your normal UK one again.

Although I dont understand what you mean by 'format' it.

So what i dont understand is my iphone is linked to my uk account, if i setup a us account when i plug my iphone in will it try to wipe and "resync" and hence will it let me have apps i have downloaed using my uk account on my iphone as well as aps from my us account....

As Ive said, you can sync all your apps even if they were bought with different accounts (I'm doing it right now, in fact, so it definitely works). It wont ask if you want to wipe the iPhone - an iPod and iPhone syncs with the iTunes library, not the iTunes store. I hope that clears it up :)

so sorry for being thick. this is teh steps i take

turn on pc
go to itunes
log out of uk account
setup and log into us account
redeem us voucher
use use voucher
plug in iphone
sync - you sure this step wont wipe my iphone aps and progs?
and hey presto i should have my uk iphone with all my apps and my new us apps?

Yes, that'll work. As I've mentioned, I have apps from more then one country installed and it works fine, it just syncs normally, it doesnt ask to erase anything :)

but ive heard that when you plug your iphone or ipod into another account it tries to resync but becuase there is no content on that account it deleats everything.... is this true?

AS mentioned, your iPhone only syncs to an iTunes Library, which can have content from several accounts.

If you tried syncing to another Library, it would delete the content.

But from what I can tell you're just trying to add an account to your existing Library, so you should be fine.

Another computer, not another account on the same computer.

My boyfriend logs into his account and buys me apps that are then synced to my phone.

Hi all
It works!!
Only problem is I know have iTunes and the apps store on my phone in us not uk

Any ideas?
