I currently back up my iPad and iPhone to my MacBook. Apart from privacy, is there any good reason why I should continue to do this? Or are the iCloud backups just as good?

iTunes backup is more secure, stores some sensitive information that the cloud backup doesn't (if you enable encryption), and restoring a device from the backup is much faster.

If you backup to the Mac with encryption turned on, it saves all your logins and app passwords, making a restore to a new device much easier. An iCloud backup does not save those.

Interesting! That’s much more convenient and I’m already backing up to my Mac with encryption on.
