Yeah, it's known to be pretty bad. Add to that the fact that it'll reopen iTunes for you if you bring up Dashboard when iTunes isn't already open. :(

It is terrible, it is so so slow and i do not know of any other better version.
Sorry about my moaning.

Well that's good to know. sort of.

The real reason is that I want to be able to use the alarm clock widget to turn on iTunes. Something I have wanted to do for years but it won't work and I thought because the iTunes widget doesn't work that it might have something to do with iTunes rather than the widget.

Why is it that all these useless widgets work well but useful widgets don't work at all.

Yes the itunes widget is not working as it should in several ways and it was reported as a bug before 10.4 was released to the public but nothing was done about it.
Not a priority it seems tough it is a original feature of 10.4.

The alarm clock widget works fine for me, but if you're having problems try using Awaken and system preferences > energy saver > schedule to get your computer to turn on and play an iTunes play list. It's what I use for my alarm clock and I've never had a problem with it.

i had an issue with the iTunes widget where it would launch iTunes on its own every 120 seconds. i submitted the bug report to Apple and was corresponding back and forth with them on it. if only they were as helpful with my Automator bug reports.
