Why doesn't Apple allow the iTunes Store integrated on the iPhone use the AT&T EDGE network, just like Safari does? That would really come in handy when our WiFi is down or having problems. There have been many times when I'm not near a WiFi spot but want to download a song I just heard.

Maybe there's a way to hack it and enable that? That's why I posted it here.
 
Lots of bandwidth would be used if they allowed it. And it wouldn't be acceptable to compress the music downloaded via EDGE over the air on the iPhone.
 
it would be too much data traffic on network --- don't forget they have blackberry traffic and users with laptops and data cards. The least thing they need is people dowloading large music files
