I bought a my book world edition having been told by numerous sources that i would be able to use the itunes server to stream videos from the shared folder on the my book drive.

This doesn't seem to be the case.

I can easily get it to show/share and play music, but not videos.

Have i missed something? Have i not clicked the correct settings

Thanks

Did you add the folder to iTunes? Just the links not the actual content.

As far as i'm aware, I shouldn't have to add any folders.

In the MBWE (My book world edition) media settings, there is a itunes tab which tells you to place files in the shared/music folder. This should be everything to enable itunes server.

What i'm trying to achieve is to be able to view movie files stored on a shared folder on a NAS itunes server, on my imac or my wife's laptop or through either computer to my apple TV 2

I'm looking for a true itunes shared library that doesn't mean i have to switch between library files, that just becomes too complicated in the long run.

On further reading, the MBWE itunes server only runs .mp3, .aac and .wav files

Is there a NAS drive that offers itunes server that will support movie file types such as .m4v

Thansks

No built-in NAS iTunes server has ever supported video, they only support music.

This is what i feared after some more digging about on some other forums.

The damn sales guy at the apple store lied.

Why is nothing ever simple?????

Take it back, find the guy who sold it to you, whack him around the head with it and tell he's got no business working at an Apple store if he thinks a NAS iTunes server will work with video:D

Just put your iTunes library on the NAS and point your computers iTunes to it, you'll still need the computer on to use your ATV through. Forget about the built-in server.
