I'd like to try the 3.0 update on my iPhone 3G but iTunes won't even download it for me. When I plug in my 3G it says that the 3.0 update is available and click Update to get it. I do this, iTunes goes through the connecting to server messages. I get a series of messages with a list of new features, prompting me to agree, etc. The iPhone Software Update appears in Downloads and starts to download. Then it stops at 0.2k size which is obviously not right. I checked in my: UserName>Library>Applications>iTunes>iPhone Software Updates folder and see my 2.2.1 update (246MB) and the 3.0 update (4k) in the folder. I tried removing the 3.0 update and trying again. On the second attempt iTunes tells me that the download cannot be completed because the firmware file is corrupted. But this time there is no file in the folder. If I try again to download, the original process starts all over and repeats itself. I am wondering if there is a preference or other file that is causing problems. Any thoughts on why this is happening or solutions to actually download it???

Id try logging out and then back in to your itunes account. If all else fails, fine the IPSW file on the net somewhere and update from that. Im sure its been uploaded all across the net.

Thanks, I think I had a network issue because I was finally able to get it to work.
