iPad iTunes won't me restore my iPad. it says I do not have permission

I am trying to restore my iPad Air 2013. my iPad is running the latest software and now I can't restore it. I checked the more info and it says it could be because iTunes isn't up to date. I haven't upgraded my 2018 Mac to new new OS, would that be the issue?

Cause if it is I can't upgrade my OS because there is a program that I have that doesn't have 64 bit version yet.

You might as well try and update it to macOS Catalina.

I can’t because an app I use for work isn’t 64 bit.

How far back is your OS? If it's many more versions before Catalina, that's likely the issue. Mojave as the previous OS should still work as the last version to support 32 bit apps. As mentioned, upgrading OS and iTunes is probably the only solution.

Maybe if I restore it in a computer that can’t go above the os that is on it.

Update your iPad Air to iOS 12.4.5.

It’s already at most up to date.

Maybe try iTunes within Catalina or Windows VM.
