I imported some mp3's I had from my pc, which had file names in the format:

Code:
artist - song.mp3

Because of that naming structure, I had no need for id tag information, and erased it all.

Now with these mp3's being on iTunes, I want to edit their ID tags so iTunes displays the info in columns (song, artist, album, genre...) all in their respective columns.

When I type in the information to change the id tag, it works fine.

for 2 seconds.

iTunes then reverts back to the original file and forgets my changes.

I even made folders for album and put them under the right artist, and put the mp3 in there, thinking maybe iTunes got the song info from where it was located within the folders (Artist/Album/Song.mp3). Still to no avail.

How can I effectively change the ID Tags and song names for good????

Thanks!

Have you tried reimporting them? It just might fix that problem - it fixed a similar one I had at least. Otherwise, try to add ID3 tags to the files ("Convert ID3 Tag")

I havnt checked wether they are read only - but if that were the case, then i shouldnt let me edit it at all. it lets me edit it, and changes it back about 5 seconds later.

I tried conver to ID3 aswell, and it didnt work.

When I make a new album and artist folder for it, after the same 5 seconds, the folders get deleted and the song gets put back where it was.

maybe if I uncheck "organize music folder" it might fix it - i have to wait till I get home though to try that.
