Ok I am sure this has been asked before so here it goes. I am a new MAC user with a new 27"i5. I would like to know how I can get my ITUNES account from my windows 7 based pc to my new mac to sync my IPAD to. When I hook up the ipad to sync it wants to erase the IPAD, there must be a way around this.

Getting your iTune library from your PC to Mac is pretty simple. Here is an MacWorld article that explains how:

http://www.macworld.com/article/146958/2010/03/move_itunes_windows_mac.html

Once you have migrated the library to your iMac syncing between the iMac and the iPad should be very straight forward. Also don't forget you have 90 days of free telephone support from Apple, take advantage of it! The number is in your owners manual.

Itunes

Thanks guys, so when I get this done I will be able to also sync up my IPAD just as if it where tied to the old PC?

as far as i can see you can't
The ipad (unlike iPhone) can only be synced with one computer. so if you want to sync with the new mac you have to delete everything and start again. technically nothing to worry about as you should have already coppied over your itunes library using an external HD anyway
I'm in teh same boat, havnt done it yet as unsure how long it will take (was ages on the PC)
iPhone was no problem connected synced straight away done! dont know wht theiPad is treated differently
