I fear my cell phone bill next month LOL and then the Apple care guy got disconnected from Apple trying to get my return done so I won't hear till tomorrow how long it will take to get a replacement.

Le sigh, don't I know it. I was so going to deal with the yellowish screen until I found my cluster of four stuck pixels.

Yeah I guess Apple care got disconnected from Apple, he's going to call me back tomorrow. I ran a Pixel check program and my problem isn't a stuck pixel its a dead red one. So I got the double whammy of yellow screen and dead pixel. Booz
On the red pixel test it comes up as black spot so, when its on a white screen it shows up as a baby blue spot. All the other colors seem to be working its just the red screen LCD test that shows it is dead.
and yet another victom that's been stuck with a defective MBP.
I hear ya man.... so far I'm on my fourth 17" MBP with LCD issues and it isn't getting any better. and here I was thinking the reason I bought a Mac in the first place was for the infamous Apple quality.

The sucky thing is they may have to bump me up to the new harddrive (mine is the 7200rpm) and that will take 2-3 weeks to ship which I cannot wait for. If that is the case I'm going to request a refund and then just get a base model at the Apple store and upgrade the harddrive and memory on my own. I needed this for a business trip end of this month.
I really sympathize with you. But as a they say, if at first
you don't succeed, try try again. Hopefully third time will
be the charm!

if you are not going to get it till december, might as well
wait for January Penryn.
Maybe you should consider getting a used one off of craigslist,
get your instant gratification now, than turn around and
sell it when then next model comes around? Macs hold
their value well and you would lose close to nothing.

They're refunding me, I'm waiting on RMA. Then this weekend I'll go to the Apple store and either get a regular Pro and upgrade the hardrive later on or I'll get a blackbook. Either way I figure it will be easier dealing with the store then constant shipping from China.

Yeah, but the only downer is you can't use your corporate
discount at the retail store. Otherwise, that's a good plan.
Maybe not, returns will definitely be easier with a stock
machine bought at the store. Especially since you might
have to go through a few yellow ones to get to a decent one
You might try talking with the manager
at the store when you buy and explain your story, they
might be able to swing an educational discount or
other workaround. It's worth a try.
