iPod I've just bought a 1st gen iPod for fun

No, I live in Romania where most of the people can't afford the latest idevices so most of them just started selling their first and second generations idevices. There is this website in my country where you can sell things, pretty much like ebay.

Since you mention an "iPod" and asked for SHSH, you probably bought an "iPod touch."

SHSH is introduced around iOS 3 I believe. But to downgrade to older iOS you don't need SHSH.

Just try to restore from iTunes using old firmware, and search for any error numbers.

Ohhhh so you only have an iPod touch! I thought it was the first gen of the original ipods! I'm no longer jealous ;-)
