Ui UX designer who want a more organic feeling with my design (threw device) , want to use iPad only to do my design but lack of adapted software ! try the surface GO ! :

- so boring to don't have Adobe XD / illustrator / photoshop on my iPad, I want to try the surface GO (128 ssd and 8g ram) : at the first place I was pleasantly surprised! have the full software on a small tablet with a pen : my dream !

but after the first hour, with some thought to switch to windows , I tried to do more heavy work on it and WOW ! : blue screen : your device need to be restart, 2 times : illustrator close because we don't know why ! the touch UX was do poor etc ..

And the stylus ! the stylus ! for people who use iPad Pro only and never try the surface : don't try it ! you will be so disappointed! palm rejection work very badly on the surface, when you want to snap the screen to zoom in / out, very often you make a line or something else ! so disappointed ! Very basic stuff : if you want to do a straight line, you will see the line with some waves and much more unpleasant surprise !

I'm very angry about apple recently because they frustrated me with Mac OS (so poor update), IOS on iPad (no external drive support , lack of good file system, lack of some software etc ..) you don't figure how good is the experience on apple device !

But pleaaaase Tim , be more clever with your consumer, we don't want Mac OS on iPad , we don't want iOS on Mac, Steve was right, we want a very good touch OS on iPad Pro !!!!

You have so much money and so much talented people ! please use them, and not to be a luxury trademark, but to help people to have the work done like they want ;)

You should be writing and complaining to Adobe on the software front.
Still waiting for their Photoshop for iOS - and if they can do Photoshop, then can certainly do XD.

Edit:
I have also tried the Surface Go and it’s very capable for a lot of tasks, and certainly capable of some Graphic Design work, but heavier tasks do require a Surface Pro.

Yes so agree with you and I think I know what they need to do for Adobe XD ( google font, gesture from adobe comp etc ) but I think it’s a niche market maybe for them
 
I have used the Surface Go extensively and it is mainly for people that need a mobile device on the road, with full windows software support. If you want to use it for more than basic stuff, then you will be disappointed. If you expect a tablet like the iPad you will also be disappointed. As Microsoft says, the Surface Go is for first line workers mostly, and students that need something light and small.

I have used it and I loved it about as much as I hated it.

A second or third gen of that device could sorely tempt me.

Like always : depend of the use case ! But regular people need to have Facebook / YouTube / webbrowser : iPad have a better UX for this, for pro on business configuration with many paper / tabler work : surface have a better feeling ( because of the regular software on windows ), for music producer / logo typer / photographer / illustration designer : iPad is I think better , for UI / UX designer : MacBook Pro / air / etc , for big video producer a tower pc is the best, for 18 years old people : iPhone is the best etc ...

But , on a very subjective point of view : I want the iPad to be more efficient for my work like the MAC was in the 2000 years ;) time to go further and surface is a very good product , but not for me

Edit : but the surface pen as so awful for me ! I want to share my experience !

I have no problem with the palm rejection. There is an option to turn off touch screen completely while using been as well. I've extensively used both the Apple Pencil and the Surface Pen and there is negligible difference between the two. Also I really like the MS Pencil because it comes with different nips so you can find the one that feels the best. Plus having an eraser on top(which is ironic apple doesn't) is awesome.

I’m using a iPad Pro 1TB as my only computer. I mostly use it for managing and updating thousands of photos, and also video editing, and in my free time playing games on it, and surfing the web, research, videos, movies. I do not edit photos, and I’m not much of an artist either, so I’m in no rush for Adobe Photoshop CC full version. Though I’d like to have it to play on for fun. With what I do, I feel like my iPad is perfect.

^ with that being said, it may not work as well for someone else with only slightly different needs.

I look forward to getting a pencil gen 2 soon enough for better precision when selecting edit points, or grabbing timelines and adjusting effects with better precision than using my finger

One thing I’m happiest about is reliability, reliability, reliability! I could have been editing something for like 2 hours and I get pulled away, close my iPad folio, come back reopen the application and I’m back to exactly where I was. Smooth, reliable, and fast.

I’ve never tried a surface go, or surface book. This was my first time trying an iPad for that matter, and I’m impressed with it.

You really should try a Surface unless your software is incompatible to at least give it a shot. You would be surprised with just how much more you can do. Multiple Desktops, Virtual machines. Paint.net is a really good photo editor, not on par with Photoshop but sounds like it would have all you need. As for reliability... I am one of those people who doesn't mess around tinkering to much with the OS and just learn to use what is in it and reliability has never been a problem in windows 10 with me. Most people you here having reliability problems is because the downloaded something that messed with windows and when an update came it probably caused reliability issues. My dad still uses Mac's and I MacOS crashing more than mine, especially application crashes and he is pretty much stock when it comes to install.
 
Lol Microsoft's stubbornness with slapping a touch interface on Windows just won't work. You'll just get an underperforming or very expensive laptop.

Lol Apple's Stubbornness with not putting a touch interface which would work. You'll just get an overperforming tablet that can also be an expensive laptop.
Windows is fine for touch. It actually was better in Windows 8. I know my Surface Pro and Surface book have been anything but underwhelming. With the Surface Pro you can have a tablet, a laptop, and a desktop when docked WITH additional storage options. i.e. SD Card or a portable hard drive. Full adobe and office Apps, a REAL file manager, and a good inking experience. Then when i'm done working I can just pull up youtube, Hulu, Netflix and consume all the content I want just like an iPad is made for. Also Netflix doesn't even allow the best quality on their ios app or safari, but windows 10 does.

Apple: "No one wants to use a touchscreen laptop. It's awkward and uncomfortable to reach out like that to navigate."

Also Apple: "The iPad Pro with a keyboard can replace your laptop as your main computer. There's no mouse or trackpad support, so you can only navigate by reaching out and touching it."

Surface GO sucks Surface Pro is where it is at.

Though still touch screen/tablet apps suck on it mostly.

Depends on what you're looking for in a pencil, but to me, there is a big difference in initial pressure, pressure curve and slow drawing line quality - in favor of the Apple Pencil. For just note taking - they are probably close.

I have had a Surface Pro 3 and still have a Surface 3. Both are too big. The Go is the perfect size for me. It runs my class presentations and the statistical software that I teach. It works perfectly for me and is the “just right” Windows portable that I have wanted for years.

I agree. My Go works very well for me and has become my primary computer for personal use. At home, my "big desktop" is the alternate for use when I need the horesepower, which isn't very often.

The Go is a good size for use around the house. It works well with a mini docking station like "hub" and at 24" monitor. Performance is fine for personal "consumption" (e.g. surfing, videos, podcasts, ...), light "office" work, and remote connection to my work machines (various iMacs, PowerMac, MacMini, MBp,...).

I have to have something other than an iPad at the camp because sometimes I’m send updated camera firmware while I’m at the camp. Can’t write FW files to an SD card with an iPad. Go is the perfect compact size between the too-small Dell Venue 8 Pro and the Surface 3. However, I prefer the iPP3/ASK footprint for many other things.

Yeah mine is mostly notetaking, not drawing.
