the new iMacs are nice in that they have thunderbolt ports, but Ivy Bridge will make USB3 a standard... unless apple purposefully somehow downgrades to USB2 which would be pretty poor form.
USB 3 peripherals are already available and will continue to be available. Thunderbolt peripherals are essentially non-existant at the moment.
There's no reason apple should not include USB3 other than trying to push customers to Thunderbolt.... which would be fine if there were actually peripherals available.
