Ivy Bridge iMacs to have USB3

the new iMacs are nice in that they have thunderbolt ports, but Ivy Bridge will make USB3 a standard... unless apple purposefully somehow downgrades to USB2 which would be pretty poor form.

USB 3 peripherals are already available and will continue to be available. Thunderbolt peripherals are essentially non-existant at the moment.

There's no reason apple should not include USB3 other than trying to push customers to Thunderbolt.... which would be fine if there were actually peripherals available.

Um new iMacs were released yesterday, why are you even talking about the next new iMacs and USB3.0 when there's a big chance Thunderbolt will be the new standard and USB3.0 will be just be sitting there... with 5GBps while Thunderbolt has 10GBps speed.

Thunderbolt peripherals are essentially non-existant at the moment.

the thunderbolt port is a mini displayport, basically an upgraded mini displayport port. any mini display port wire or device can be used in a thunderbol., thunderbolt is fully backwards compatible,

More importantly, by the time an iMac with USB3 exists, there will be plenty of Thunderbolt devices.

USB 3 has already taken off, there are many many devices that support it. TB is the same a FW, great concept but it will never fly outside of Apple and maybe Sony.
