Iweb homepage news feed

Hi,

I hope this is the right place to put this.

Ok, on iWeb I use the 'blog' feature as a news feature and I was wondering is there any way to have the my latest news post on my homepage? If you can how?

I think the solution would be to embed the last few entries of the archive page of the news blog with an iFrame into the main page

(only works when published and visited on the web, not in iWeb itself)

Just one problem, when I click on a link within the frame, it goes to that page but within the frame. Is there any way to make it so when the link is clicked it takes the whole page to the linked page, instead of just going their in the frame.

Hi Kenny,

actually it's not possible no.
You would need to change the target attribute of the links in the archive page of the blog and that's not possible in iWeb. Also by changing the target attribute it wouldn't work because you would I guess you did put it in a HTML Snippet. But even if you did put it in the page itself it wouldn't work because you can't change the target attribute in iWeb (maybe you could by editing the HTML post publishing but I guess you wouldn't like to do that because I myself don't like to do that).

Solution: just put a shape in front of the HTML Snippet and reduce its opacity to zero (Inspector=>Graphic Tab=>Opacity). Then select the Shape and make it a link that links to the Archive page (or the Blog itself...)

Of course by adding a shape in front of the iframe the iframe itself becomes not clickable / scrollable by users thus it would be better to disable the scrollbars (it would look weird to me if there were scrollbars but I wouldn't be able to scroll) change

I wonder if you were to put the shape only on the inside of the frame you might still be able to use the scroll bar but you could not click on the inside of the frame. and you could put your link right onto the frame itself. I could be effective, but I have not tried it.

Yes I think that would work too at least people could look through the other news as well (why didn't I think of that? two minds work better than one).

I never had scroll bars on the side because what I was trying to go didn't need them but thanks for the tip anyway.

This is what my site looks like though (its not published to the internet yet just to a file).

I see what it is that you need. I would try the almost clear shape on the front of it then I would paste the read more tag on top of it with the link opening in the same window or in a new window as you wish. I think it would be seemless.
