I chose iWeb because of its ease of use - renders great on other non IE browsers. Sadly - 80% (or something close) of the world operates on IE - I can't afford to have my site not work on IE.
The problems displayed were simply Lucida Bright italic in a text box - nothing else - how difficult should that be to render properly in IE?
On my iWeb sites, IE6 is not a player at all. IE7 will render most of my pages yet it doesn't play well with the slide show. I also stay away from the embedded navigation buttons and build my own navigation links.
This turned out to be a looooong day on issues I had not planned on. Here is what I think happened. My original site was developed with iWeb 07 and "converted" to iWeb 08. POOR conversion to say the least. I deleted a few of the cut off / hacked in half junk that my site had become (under IE) and inserted new text boxes. Guess what ???? It now looks fairly good in IE 7 and improved in IE 6 - Firefox & Safari renderings are very good.
If I can't get IE 6 to work better I'll simply put a tag on the site Optimized for IE 7 / Firefox / Safari / Opera / .....
A good 6 hours shot sorting this out - YIKES - I'm tired but will sleep well tonight not having to worry about this all evening.
