iWork 2006 - Buy or wait? LOL

I really like how clean Pages is, and am seriously considering switching with 4 days left on my trial. I also expect that the next version will really be much more complete, hopefully while not becoming the cluttered mess that Word is (despite the fact that I am a very proficient Word and Office user).

Before anyone suggests NeoOffice or any other open source project, I have tried them all, and find that they are really trying to emulate Word. I just personally find the clean space of Pages a better place to think.

I should say that I switched to Mac in January.

If I buy iWork now, is there any chance that there will be an upgrade price for iWork 2007?
 
I don't remember there being any sort of upgrade system in previous years. You'll probably have to buy the full version again next year, if you buy the current version.
 
You could wait until 2007 for iWork 07, but you'll be stuck using Word/OpenOffice/NeoOffice until then, so if you really need a Word Processor between now and January, I'd buy it now.
 
Wait until the new version comes out. There's no upgrade system. You buy the new update for the same price as everyone else.
 
Don't expect an upgrade price. Only you can decide if you need it now, but keep in mind, the iWork package is a bargain. You could buy it 3-4 times over and still not spend as much as it costs to buy Office once.

Is that necessarily a bad thing?
 
The education price for iWork is always only $50, so if you or somebody you know can get the education discount, I'd say go for it because it's really not all that much money. I got iWork before my freshman year of college and I'm just starting to use it now at the beginning of my sophomore year. I totally understand what you mean about the clutter-free environment. It does take a few days to get used to, but I like it. It'll be that much more perfect when spreadsheet software comes out. Hopefully soon!

A Good iWork 06 Manual online?

Is there a good, comprehensive iWork manual online somewhere? I'm specifcally interested in learning all about Pages but I don't want to buy a book..any ideas?

I too am thinking about iWork. Haven't even used the trial version and still want it. Education discount looks pretty good. If you can't take advantage of it there, check out eBay. Ahhhh, think I'll wait till iWork07 comes out. Cheers
 
I would recommend that you wait, its only a few months away from being updated. You could always try the a free version for now.
