If you take a look at Windows Mobile you will see that Microsoft integrates the Office suite in it, and also if you own an older version of Office they let you Upgrade for free.

NOW, :apple: should do the same. In the same way that I notice the lack of iChat in my iPhone I do not want "IAM" or other messenger. Apple is time to developer apps. A little search on iTunes, only two apps from Apple.

I expect Apple will allow for third party developers having access to a special 'box' or folder where you can store certain kinds of files (iWork, Office) and allow for editing them. Apple will probably simultaneously release iWork Mobile.

I am sure it is in the works. They just dont want to let all the tricks out of the bag before they have more lined up.

I HOPE that too, because will be more easy to developers to create new apps in base of iWork or Office to edit, save, and sync document back to a computer.

Already way overdue.

Given that every PDA platform that came before the iPhone has had this functionality, I'm very surprised (and frustrated) that Apple didn't have this for the iPhone from day one. Contact, Calendar, ToDo, and Notes sync should have been the first thing they did. (Oops... they still don't even have a synchable notes app on the Mac yet!)

Lack of this on the iPhone has been about the biggest frustration for me, and is why I'm still carrying my iPaq in addition to the iPhone. The iPhone platform should be so capable. I hope this stuff is coming from someone soon. I know Pocket Informant is coming, but they're leaving out the Notes sync in the iPhone version. Close, but not the cigar I'm waiting for. Maybe version 2.

Yup. I wished for an OpenOffice editing Appl for the iPhone too as all my office work are done in OpenOffice. I cannot even view them on my iPhone less editing them. ;(
